About Our Chapter
Tall Grass Prairie Blue Star Mothers — OK Chapter 19, Bartlesville, Oklahoma
Our History
Blue Star Mothers of America was founded in 1942 by Genevieve Cola in Flint, Michigan, during World War II. Mothers whose sons and daughters were serving in the armed forces banded together to support one another and their children in uniform.
Tall Grass Prairie Chapter OK19 was chartered to serve the Bartlesville, Oklahoma area. Named for the iconic tallgrass prairie that defines our region, our chapter has grown into a close-knit family of mothers united by love of country and devotion to those who serve.
For decades, our members have assembled care packages, visited veterans at local facilities, supported Gold Star families, and stood proudly at community events — carrying on the Blue Star Mothers tradition of service and sacrifice.

As a new Blue Star Mother in 2019, I had no idea the profound impact this organization would have on my life. When my firstborn son pledged his life to defend our country, immense pride and a sense of grief warred within me. Yet, during his years of active service, my Blue Star Mothers sisters walked beside me every single step of the way. Through every deployment, every new mission, every agonizing moment he was out of communication range, and every celebration of achievement, they were there—just as I was there for them in their own journeys.
Today, it continues to be my absolute honor to stand with this extraordinary group of women as their chapter president. My son is now a veteran, but my passion for this organization has only grown. Our chapter takes the pride we have in our sons and daughters and stretches it far beyond our own families. To us, everyone who is currently serving or has ever served has become our family.
Every care package packed, every veteran visited, every flag placed, every volunteer hour given, every military family encouraged, and every service member remembered represents a sacred commitment. It is the commitment of a dedicated community who believes that our service does not end when our own loved one's military journey changes.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you to our community and benefactors for believing in us, for championing our mission, and for supporting those who protect the greatest country in the world—these United States of America.
God bless,
Christina Kiddy
